At the “C” Club, we’re on a mission to build a stronger, more prosperous Houston through fiscal responsibility, principled leadership, and effective governance. We do this by identifying and supporting quality candidates who share our values and possess the tenacity to fight for them in elected office. The “C” Club has been hard at work to improve our community since 1964. Over the years, we have seen a lot of change across Harris County – much positive while some negative. It is
our deeply held belief that, despite the challenges facing our region, Greater Houston’s best days are ahead. It is with this conviction that we look ahead to the 2025-2026 election cycle and commit to doing more than ever to make the Houston area the best place in the entire country to raise a family, start a business, and pursue opportunity. As we navigate the ever-changing political dynamics, we will send out a monthly newsletter updating readers on our activity and developments critical to our mission so please stay tuned and also forward these updates to your own network.
Election Recap – Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees
As April was coming to an end and the May 3rd elections were approaching, the “C” Club decided to get involved in the Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees races. These seats are critical to ensure our schools are best serving both students and parents. We endorsed incumbent Jennifer Hyland for Trustee Position 5, as well as challengers Walker Agnew Jr. for Trustee Position 6 and Caroline Bennett for Trustee Position 7. When every vote was counted, all three emerged victorious.
Mayor Whitmire Proposes Balanced Budget
Mayor Whitmire has proposed a balanced budget with no tax or fee increases for fiscal year 2026. The plan would limit the growth of government by imposing freezes on hiring in certain departments. Additionally, the budget seeks to add more police officers and enhance Houston Police Department’s recruitment capabilities by offering pay raises to law enforcement.
Mayor Whitmire’s proposal is prudent, bold, and what the City of Houston needs. This approach will ensure the city starts down the path to reforming its fiscal house and one day serving as a shining example to major cities throughout the United States of the merits of limited government and responsible, pragmatic fiscal policy.
In Case You Missed It
There is a lot happening in the news these days so we wanted to make sure you saw the following:
- Governor Abbott has officially signed school choice legislation into law.
- Governor Abbott listed bail reform as a top priority for this legislative session to rein in soft-on-crime judges intent on letting violent criminals roam our streets.
- NVIDIA announced it will be manufacturing products in Houston in the next 12-15 months.
- Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced his 2026 re-election campaign.
- State Senator Mayes Middleton announced his candidacy for Texas Attorney General.
- State Representative Dennis Paul introduced legislation addressing the Harris County Commissioners Court’s failure to effectively manage the Harris County Flood Control District. The bill would reassign oversight to a governor-appointed board.
- Local leaders have been fighting to get the state of Texas to invest in the Houston Water System. The Houston Water System supports seven counties, millions of people, and countless businesses. A well-functioning, modern-day regional water system is fundamental for Houston and the surrounding area to thrive.
Onward and upward,
The “C” Club of Houston
