At the “C” Club, we’re on a mission to build a stronger, more prosperous Houston through fiscal responsibility, principled leadership, and effective governance. We do this by identifying and supporting quality candidates who share our values and possess the tenacity to fight for them in elected office. No one believed more deeply in this mission or worked hard in service of it than Embry Canterbury. It is with deep sorrow that we say we recently lost our beloved friend Embry. Embry was a great father, husband, son, businessman and a dear companion to many in the Houston community. With a smile on his face and cowboy boots on, Embry worked tirelessly in his business and philanthropic endeavors. He was a loyal member of the “C” Club with a passion to make the City of Houston and State of Texas a better place. We will continue to hold Embry and his loved ones close to our hearts. Embry dedicated countless hours to making the “C” Club into what it is today, and we know he would want us to keep our foot on the gas in the fight for Houston and Texas. In his honor, that is exactly what we plan to do.

- Senate Bill 648: Relating to recording requirements for certain instruments concerning real property.
- Senate Bill 1253: Relating to impact and production fees for certain water projects and to the regulation of certain wells; authorizing a fee.
- Senate Bill 1278: Relating to an affirmative defense to prosecution for victims of trafficking of persons or compelling prostitution.
- Senate Bill 1758: Relating to the operation of a cement kiln and the production of aggregates near a semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility.
- Senate Bill 2878: Relating to the operation and administration of and practices and procedures related to proceedings in the judicial branch of state government.
One, Big, Beautiful Bill
Last week, after much deliberation, the United States Senate and House of Representatives passed the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. President Trump signed what will surely be one of the cornerstone pieces of legislation for his second term. Included in this package is:
- The largest tax cut in American history for working Americans
- No tax on tips, overtime, or Social Security
- The elimination of billions of dollars in crony Green New Deal funding put in place by the Biden Administration
- Billions of dollars allocated for President Trump’s border security agenda
- The restoration of American energy independence
- Massive cuts to fraud, waste, and abuse
- Improvements to our military at a time when the world is growing increasingly dangerous
